Though many doubted, Utah football answered the call in first major test of season
It's safe to say the Utah football team was made very well aware of the comments made against the team, doubting their ability to compete with Houston. Utah football won 21-13 against Houston in the first major test of the season, despite many predictions predicting otherwise. The win lifts Utah to No 6 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 rankings. The game was part of ESPN "College GameDay" visit to Salt Lake City, with ESPN personality Pat McAfee expressing his love for Utah. Despite Houston's prolific offenses, Utah's defense managed to limit Houston to 13 points, 86 rushing yards, and several empty trips inside the red zone. Utah's quarterback, Devon Dampier, said the team felt like "we were written off by a lot of people" and believed they could reach the college playoffs.
