One person has died after officials said their vehicle failed to complete a 90-degree curve and crashed into a cliff wall.

The driver was reportedly traveling northbound on State Route 163 and crossing the San Juan River at the Mexican Hat bridge just before 2 p.m. on Friday when the crash occurred.

Officials said there is a 90-degree righthand curve on the north side of the bridge, which the vehicle failed to navigate.

The driver sustained fatal injuries. According to Utah Highway Patrol, impairment and an underlying medical condition are being considered in this investigation.

Troopers added that since Friday, they have reported 29 DUI drivers and 112 crashes in the state so far over the holiday weekend.
