Latinos backing Dem House hopefuls more engaged this cycle than GOP, study says
Latinos backing Democratic House hopefuls are more engaged this election cycle than those backing Republican candidates, a Pew report says. A survey by the Pew Research Center has found that Latinos aligned with Democratic candidates are more engaged in this election cycle than those backing Republicans. Over 75% of registered Latino voters back a Democrat in their local U.S. House race, up from 58% in 2022, and 77% believe it really matters who wins control of Congress. The figure for Latinos backing Republican congressional candidates is 68%, down from 69% four years ago. Meanwhile, support for President Donald Trump has decreased since 2024, with his approval rating dropping from 93% in 2025 to 57% today. 55% of Latino registered voters see their vote for Congress as a vote against Trump, compared to 26% who viewed their vote as opposition to Joe Biden. The study also found that 61% of the Latino voters surveyed said the situation this year is worse than the previous year, down slightly from 65% the previous.
