Liberty Park’s reimagined Rotary Play Park opens for children of all abilities to enjoy

After being closed for a year, Liberty Park’s Rotary Play Park is open once more for kids to enjoy a newly imagined inclusive and accessible playground. Liberty Park's Rotary Play Park in Salt Lake City, Utah, has reopened after a year of closure due to a new inclusive and accessible playground. The $5 million playground project includes a climbing tower, group pendulum swing, wheelchair accessible spin carousel, sand tables, meadow maze, in-ground jumpers, swings, slides, and natural play areas. The new features include adaptive interpretive features and inclusive equipment to support children with different abilities. The project was funded by Salt Lake city's Parks, Trails, and Open Space General Obligation Bond and from Park Impact Fees. The Rotary Park was first built in 2002 for the 2002 Paralympic Winter Games and was intended as an all-ages and abilities park, but after nearly 25 years, it was time for a reimagining.
