Salt Lake City Christmas tradition ends after 30 years as owner faces health challenges
Forrest Nunley, the man behind a beloved Christmas house tradition in the Salt Lake Valley, is turning off the lights for good. Forrest Nunley, the owner of a Salt Lake City Christmas display for 30 years, has decided to discontinue the tradition due to health issues. Nunley was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease five years ago and sold his business and moved to a farm in Moab, where there was no traffic, noise, pollution. Despite this, Nunley returned each year to create the annual display, which became a seasonal landmark in Salt Lake. He recently decided to sell hundreds of his decorations at a yard sale and keep about 100 decorations for family use. The decision to end the tradition was difficult, but he said it was time to focus on his wife, children and grandchildren.
