Salt Lake City Schedules Final Gates in US$5.1bn Rebuild
Seven gates are due to open October 27, with five assigned to United and two for common use. Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is set to open its final seven Concourse B-east gates on October 27, marking the last passenger-facing stage of a US$5.1bn redevelopment that began in 2014. The airport celebrated completion of construction on October 24, with five gates assigned to United Airlines (UA) and two to be common-use gates. The completed development includes 94 aircraft gates and 101 concessions. The project replaced three terminals with a central terminal and two linear concourses. The single-terminal layout removes duplicated check-in, security and baggage-claim facilities. Funding includes airport funds, passenger and rental-car facility charges, airport revenue bonds, and federal grants.
