Shriners of Salt Lake City makes Halloween memorable for kids in wheelchairs

Shriners held their annual Wheelchair Halloween Costume Clinic--providing custom-engineered costumes that include their set of wheels--helping them ride into the holiday in style. The Shriners children's hospital in Salt Lake City held its annual "wheelchair Halloween costume clinic" for kids in wheelchairs. The clinic, which includes over 20 costumes created by teams of hospital employees and volunteers, was inspired by feedback from parents of wheelchair users. The goal is to make costumes that include their wheelchair and are large enough to bring candy out to the children. The costumes included Zeus, a Savannah Bananas Baseball player on a motorcycle, and San Francisco 49ers mascot Sourdough Sam. The event requires five teams called "pit crews" to custom-engineer one-of-a-kind costumes.
