The crash occurred on the eastbound State Route 201 ramp to northbound I-15 near 1300 South. The suspect, believed to have been following a possible carjacker, rolled his vehicle onto the ramp, causing it to catch fire. A passenger was taken into custody and the driver fled the scene. The ramp is currently closed. The West Valley City Police Department is handling the incident within the city, while the Utah Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

A suspected carjacking suspect remains at large following a crash in West Valley City.
Preliminary information from Cameron Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol indicated that the crash occurred on the eastbound State Route 201 ramp to northbound I-15 near 1300 South in Salt Lake City.
Roden said that it is believed the victim of a possible carjacking was following the suspect, who then rolled the pursued vehicle on the ramp from SR 201 to I-15.
The vehicle then caught fire, but crews managed to extinguish the flames upon arrival.
According to Roden, a passenger of the vehicle was taken into custody, while the driver fled the scene.
As a result of the crash, the ramp is currently closed.
Although medical personnel responded, no transport was necessary.
The West Valley City Police Department is handling the incident within the city, while the Utah Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
