SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Monday, Utah! It’s a slightly unsettled start to the work week as a weak cold front will finish passing through northern and central Utah this morning. The front aided in developing a few isolated thunderstorms yesterday that brought some gusty winds to the Wasatch Front.

In the wake of the front today, we will see a slight decline from the high heat, but most areas in the state remain above seasonal averages, which for this time of year in Salt Lake is 82 degrees and in St. George is 94 degrees. Speaking of Washinton County, highs will flirt again with 100 with the upper 90s on deck for Lower Washington County, with a triple-digit reading not totally out of the question.

Bottom Line? A weak cold front will shave a few degrees off daytime highs, but we remain above average statewide

While we see a slight shift today, we get back to high heat pretty quickly. By midweek, high pressure will build again, bringing hot and dry conditions with temperatures rising 10-15 degrees above normal.

Most valleys will experience the mid to upper 90s, and far southern Utah will climb well into the triple digits yet again. Sunshine will likely remain through midweek with breezy winds down south. Overall, a pretty dry couple of days is ahead.

By the end of the week, a low off the southern California coast will move inland bringing subtle changes to the overall pattern. The path of the low is not totally clear, but it does bring the chance of cooling a tiny bit for St. George.

Temperatures will ease for a day or two but, it seems like as of now, highs remain about 5 degrees above normal. The trough to the south of the state will increase southwest flow and bring some moisture back to the region. This could lead to more afternoon thunderstorms in eastern and southern Utah. We will be monitoring potential and flash flood impacts as we make it through the week.

The 4Warn Weather Team will continue to monitor conditions and keep you posted on changing conditions both on our 4Warn Weather app as well as on-air and online, we are Good4Utah!
