The island can only sustain a herd of about 500, but it grows to about 700 after calving season. On November 3, around 200 of the animals will be auctioned off. The money raised from this auction will go towards supporting the park. The public auction will be held online and people can watch it in a movie theater. The park cannot cull the herd without the roundup.
