Utah Jazz assistant coach Scott Morrison has organized a league-wide campaign for NBA head coaches to wear custom shoes in support of autism awareness and acceptance throughout April.

The campaign kicked off at the Delta Center on April 2 -- World Autism Day.

Morrison, whose 4-year-old son Max was diagnosed with autism in 2022, has garnered support from head coaches across the NBA who will wear customized Nike Air Force 1 07s featuring their team's colors and a rainbow infinity symbol representing the neurodiversity paradigm.

"This show of support for the autistic community by NBA teams and coaches is remarkable," Morrison said in a statement. “We are blessed to be in a position to spread a positive message of understanding, and we’re grateful to the Jazz for supporting our efforts to generate acceptance for autistic individuals. Our family will continue to do what we can to generate resources for individuals with autism who deserve our support on the journey to reaching their full potential.”

The Jazz hosted Autism Acceptance Night during their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Delta Center on Tuesday, where Jazz head coach Will Hardy premiered the shoes, which he'll also wear April 7 when the team plays the Golden State Warriors.

After the week-long campaign, the shoes will be autographed by the coaches and auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting the "To the Max Foundation," a nonprofit founded by Morrison and his wife, Susanne, to support individuals with autism and their families.

"This show of support for the autistic community by NBA teams and coaches is remarkable," Morrison said. "We are blessed to be in a position to spread a positive message of understanding, and we're grateful to the Jazz for supporting our efforts to generate acceptance for autistic individuals."

The Jazz have previously taken steps to support individuals with sensory issues, including certifying Delta Center as a KultureCity Sensory Inclusive Venue this year, providing staff with specialized training on supporting guests with sensory issues.
