The incident occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. at EoS Fitness, 5550 S. 900 East, where officers responded to a report of a possible shooting and discovered that both the female victim and the male suspect had suffered gunshot wounds.

Witnesses reported that the male suspect fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived.

He was later dropped off at a hospital with a critical but stable gunshot wound to the chest.

The female victim sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no threat to the public.

It wasn't clear if the suspect was shot during the attempted carjacking or he sustained the injuries later.
