SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Food and Drug Administration has issued a consumer advisory regarding one brand’s microdosing chocolate bars, according to the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food.

Consumers are being warned to steer clear of Diamond Shruumz-brand Microdosing Chocolate Bars after several reports of illnesses in four states — including Utah’s neighboring states of Nevada and Arizona.

Cases have also been reported in Indiana and Pennsylvania, and no deaths have been reported. Of the reported illnesses, six cases have resulted in hospitalization, and the last onset of illness was reported on June 3, according to the FDA.

The UDAF posted on social media to inform Utahns of the advisory and the ongoing investigation.

The chocolate bars are sold online and “at a variety of retail locations nationwide” — including smoke shops, vape shops and CBD shops, according to the FDA.

“The full list of retailers is currently unknown, and FDA recommends that people do not purchase or consume any flavor of Diamond Shruumz-brand Microdosing Chocolate Bars from any retail or online locations at this time,” the FDA said online.

As of June 7, the FDA said it is collaborating with the Centers for Disease Control and America’s Poison Centers to investigate the illnesses associated with the product.

The FDA recommends that consumers do not “eat, sell, or serve any flavor” of the chocolate bars, and recommends discarding the chocolate bars. The FDA has also advised retailers to not sell the products.

Healthcare providers are asked to report illnesses associated with the chocolate bars to the local health department and/or the Poison Help Line.

If you become ill after consuming a Diamond Shruumz-brand Microdosing Chocolate Bar, the FDA recommends you contact your healthcare provider and/or call the Poison Help Line at 1-800-222-1222.
