One man was taken into custody on Sunday after he allegedly struck an Iron County Sheriff's Office deputy multiple times with golf clubs in an attempt to avoid Michael James Torp, a 39-year-old man, has been arrested for allegedly attacking an Iron County Sheriff's Office deputy multiple times with golf clubs in an attempt to avoid arrest. The incident occurred when a lieutenant with Utah Highway Patrol attempted to stop a white Dodge Ram registered in Torp's name and it was later discovered that Torp had a warrant for his arrest. He was identified as Torp at a gas station and later identified as the driver. During a search of his truck, police found a marijuana pipe with a "testable amount" of marijuana in it. The alleged actions indicate Torp is willing to assault anyone, including law enforcement, to avoid being arrested.
