Warm meals, movies, and shelter: Inside Utah's Code Blue movie nights
As temperatures drop across Utah, about 150 people without a home found warmth, food, and entertainment over the weekend during Unsheltered Utah's Code Blue Movie Nights. Unsheltered Utah, a non-homeless Utah nonprofit, hosted a weekend event for about 150 people without a home in Salt Lake City. The event was part of Utah's "Code Blue" alerts, when temperatures are expected to drop below 18 degrees or lower for at least two hours during 24 hours. The volunteers provided hot meals, movies, and entertainment for those without homes. The nonprofit serves immediate needs of unsheltered residents through social services and resources, and helps people find employment and permanent housing. It is looking for volunteers to support these individuals this winter.
