Man, woman who helped suspected immigrant escape authorities face 4 days in jail
A man and woman who helped a man believed to be in the country illegally escape authorities last year now face four days in jail each. George Sanchez-Juarez and Kelzie Ryann Luna, accused of helping a suspected immigrant, believed to be in the country illegally, escape federal immigration authorities in October 2025. Each pleaded guilty to a count of theft, conversion and disposal of government property and aiding and abetting, a misdemeanor. They will each spend four days in jail and must pay a fine of $600 and jointly pay $28 in restitution for the handcuffs they cut off the man. Todd Christopher Bouton, the U.S. attorney who prosecuted the case, said the case was about drawing a line between properly protesting U.K. immigration policy or enforcement methods and interfering with federal agents' actions. Both Sanchez-Jarez and Luna, who have no criminal records, expressed regret over the incident.
